Congratulations to the 2025 Marcus Key Award recipient, Dr. Nick Tsourmas

Dr. Nick Tsourmas
The Marcus M. Key Lecture at the 2025 SOCOEM Annual Meeting honored Dr. Marcus M. Key, a physician board-certified in dermatology and occupational medicine who served as the founding Director of NIOSH following the 1970 Occupational Safety and Health Act.
As Director, he led major investigations—including linking vinyl chloride exposure to hepatic angiosarcoma at a BF Goodrich plant—oversaw a staff of 475 with a $17.8 million budget, and edited the landmark text Occupational Diseases: A Guide to Their Recognition. The award is presented to an individual of national or global distinction who has made significant contributions to occupational and environmental health—whether as an academician, researcher, practitioner, physician, or other health professional.
